The Genesis emulators cannot detect a CD drive on Windows Vista and Windows 7 machines. Does anyone know of a workaround short of downgrading to Windows XP?

Have you tried installing Daemontools Lite and binding your cd-image to that?
Works like a charm here for 32X, Dreamcast & PCFX.

I'll give it a try. I tried mounting to a virtual drive and it can't see that either. I added some windows XP DLL's and got it to see the CD drive but only a music player loads. The game will not execute.

i have the same problem with the sega emulator Gens. my pc is running on Windows 2000 professional.
the only way i found to fix this problem is to use an IDE/SCSI controller card.this is what one looks like.
SCSI controller.jpg

this PCI card coupled with a CD/DVD-ROM drive solved all of my ASPI problems with my emulator.i also have a few other programs that use ASPI commands and this card fixed there problems too.my card was made back around 1998/99 and was already supported by my OS. i don't know if this model is a PnP device or if Win XP has the drivers for this device in its driver library. this card was made by Promise Tecnology,INC.
it is the Ultra66 SCSI Controller. it supports up to four IDE devices.
