I think that you could put an emulator and a rom package together to boot from a usb stick. My question , having never used either, If Icould get some help and suggestions for a good emulator for NES, and super nintendo and for a good variety of games for each.

I have a friend with 3 kids, single Mom, who has a computer but can not afford internet, she does her best but does not have much extra income for the luxuries.

I would like to make a USB, with an emulator with a variety of games on it for her and her kids.

any help would be appreciated. Thanks, crusty.

You know, I can compress the entire NES ROMset down to under 300mb...no reason why you can't chuck every NES game ever on one drive. ;)

I just went from dialup, where 300 mb would have taken a week to download :freakout: I now have what they call a turbo hub that picks signals from the cellphone towers, and thus is really a phone plan. You get so much usage per month and if you go over the usage, they sock it to you by upping you to a higher usage plan.So I have to watch my usage carefully and I have to share with two other family members. So I suspect what I initially download will be modest and I can add to her selection monthly via a CD.

But I would not mind hearing about your method of reducing The NES ROMset to under 300mb. Thanks and again appreciated much :!:  :thankyou:

PS: which znes version? Remember total noob on this stuff :headbang:

Well, I grab the full-on romset first (warts and all - bad dumps, overdumps, etc) then I extract them all and find the bad dumps, over dumps, translations, hacks, cracked, trainers, and delete them all, then (if I need to get it smaller) I delete Japanese language ones (since I can't play them for the most part anyway) and THEN I use ArcThemAll! (Windows program, Google it) to zip them all up individually, THEN I 7zip those results. Makes the resulting collection remarkably usable and remarkably small.

And also, latest version. Always latest version unless they have a giant disclaimer saying "YOU TAKE RISKS" or "THERE'S A PROBLEM" blablabla.
