Nestopia - Controller Problem

Quick question - re: Nestopia / NES games

I just got the xPadder program for my controller on my computer and it seems to work fine. But when I open Nestopia to load a game - the controller doesn't work.

From the top screen menu I checked under "machine" and then "input" - I clicked on port1 and saw unconnected on the menu.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong........how can I get the controller working right????

I have had problems getting a joypad to work with nestopia and almost all other NES emulators. Someone posted a answer just a page away. search "nestopia" from the forum search box and look a page down for the post. After following that advice nestopia was working just fine without needing xpadder. You have to set all the buttons manually it does not auto program a basic layout for a joypad.
